Quad sheepskin rugs are made by stitching together 4 uniformed shearling pelts end-to-end and side-to-side. Our quad rugs are approximately 4 x 6.5ft in size and bring comfort and warmth to any room. These quad sheepskins have a quilted back and can be used as a blanket or for medical purposes.
Sheepskin rugs help to increase patient comfort in two ways: First, the dense shearling wool naturally distributes pressure. This immediately increases blood flow and decreases discomfort at common and sensitive pressure points. This is especially beneficial for patients who are confined to one position for long periods of time. Second, the wool pile provides a continuously dry environment due to the natural breathability of the wool fibres. Lambswool wicks away moisture and promotes air flow to maintain a dry and insulating comfort. This greatly reduces the development or expansion of bed sores, as bacteria can't thrive in a dry environment. This breathability occurs because merino wool is a soft and hollow spring coil fibre.
These 100% Genuine Sheepskin hides originate in New Zealand, where the sheep are raised in open fields which allow for grazing while they develop thick and soft insulating merino wool. The final product is our traditional sheepskin throw rug which offers decorative versatility while adding a natural softness to any space.
The sheepskins we use are salvaged from animals raised for the meat industry. This approach aligns with our belief in making the most out of available resources while reducing waste.
